To update the Catalina Island Conservancy’s eco tour fleet, I designed a cohesive series of vehicle wraps celebrating the island’s native wildlife and flora — the Poppy, Quail and Fox. Each design incorporates the Recreation Department’s signature aquamarine color and reflects the Conservancy’s mission to inspire curiosity and educate visitors about Catalina’s natural environment.

The goal was to create bold, educational designs that transform the fleet into moving representations of the Conservancy’s commitment to conservation, education and recreation.

DELIVERABLES

Vehicle Wrap Design

The previous vehicle wraps were outdated and visually inconsistent, and they no longer aligned with the Conservancy’s current branding. I needed to create a unified design system that could work across multiple vehicle models, each with different dimensions and surface shapes.

The Challenge

Before

Design Concept

The design system focuses on clean, modern illustrations that highlight a single hero species for each vehicle. The aquamarine brand color serves as the series’ foundation for instant recognition and visual cohesion. Educational micro-higlights were integrated into the layouts to spark curiosity.

Final Designs

The completed wraps feature bold, minimal compositions that remain legible from a distance while showcasing the beauty of Catalina’s native species. Each vehicle now serves as a mobile extension of the Recreation Department, reinforcing the Conservancy’s brand and sparking conversation among visitors and residents.

Outcome

The redesigned fleet has increased visibility for the Recreation Department and enhanced the visitor experience during tours and programs. Staff and community response has been overwhelmingly positive, noting the fresh, modern look and the educational value of the species-focused designs.
